Non-Traditional Chinese Puzzle Tangrams for Children

Scissorcrafts has constructed some very non-traditional geometric tangrams that are not based upon the square but a variety of other geometric shapes using the properties of each shape to determine the particular dissection of each shape while, for the most part, attempting to stick with the 7 section division rule (and not always succeeding).

And why not? These may not fall under the category of "official;" tangrams but their over all purpose is to allow children to have fun while learning the different geometric shapes and exercising imagination.

Most of these creative tangrams include the ol' traditional basic square divided into 5 triangles, 1 square, and 1 parallelogram shapes but have included a few additional geometric base shapes such as:

The tans of these unusual and non-traditional tangrams may range from squares to triangles, ovals to circles, and trapezoid to quadrilateral (plus eggs and hearts which are not a geometric shapes) all of which are arranged in the same fashion as the traditional ones. Arrance the pieces (or tans) into one recognizable shape at a time positioned in various positions such as running, flying, sitting, etc:

One tangram puzzle can produce many different shapes simply by rearranging the pieces randomly until a recognizable shape appears. Of course none of the tans may overlap and all must touch each other in some fashion.

The possible themes and combinations of tangram shapes can include:
